From time to time our support team are asked “How do I control my Child’s phone from mine?” Which, given that ParentShield is a fully monitored and controlled service, the majority of the controls that allow a parent to control their Child’s phone from their phone are available within the ParentShield Portal, or via the ParentShield Parent Portal App.
There are of course Smartphone functions, such as Application management, that will need some phone parental controls activating in concert with your ParentShield service, so we’ll also cover this below.
Can I control my Child’s phone from my phone?
As ParentShield is a mobile network only for the use of children, it comes with network-level controls that allow a Parent to control and monitor their Child’s mobile activity remotely, from their own phone.

Simply log into your Parent App or directly at https://my.engine-mobile.co.uk/ and you can make changes to tailor their mobile experience, or monitor call and text activity, remotely without touching the phone. Any changes you make are instant.
Can I control my Child’s iPhone from my Android phone?
Yes, as all of ParentShield’s features that allow a parent to control and monitor their Child’s phone from theirs are actioned network side, it will work regardless of the phones or operating systems.
Can I control my Child’s phone remotely?
Yes, the ParentShield Portal allows remote access to control your Childs phone from either your own phone, a tablet, laptop or desktop computer.
Can I turn my Childs phone off remotely?
From your ParentShield Portal, you can turn mobile data off remotely, or activate time controls and set an ‘allow until’ time earlier than the current time. This will block the ability to use mobile data, and send or receive calls and texts to anyone other that the two ‘home numbers’ and obviously the emergency services and the likes.

A total phone power off / on remotely isn’t possible however, with any solution.
How do I link my Child’s phone to mine?
The ParentShield process happens automatically, so you simply pop your ParentShield SIM card into the Child’s unlocked mobile phone and then log into your secure portal ( or our ParentShield Parent App ) with your credentials and your secure portal is linked to the phone.
How to set up phone parental controls in addition to ParentShield
