ParentShield Does.
When a child gets their first mobile phone, safety should come first – not unsolicited sales and marketing calls
That’s why ParentShield is the only mobile network that registers every child’s number with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) before it’s even activated.
Even though ParentShield’s Ultra-Secure Mode already blocks all unwanted contact – including sales, marketing, spam, and scam calls and texts – at the network level, we believe protection should start even earlier.
It’s a simple but powerful step – and one that every mobile network should take.

What Is the Telephone Preference Service (TPS)?
The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is the UK’s official “Do Not Call” register, regulated by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
It allows individuals to opt out of receiving unsolicited live sales or marketing calls.
When a number is added to the TPS register, companies that make marketing calls are legally required to check the database and avoid contacting that number. It’s one of the key tools used to combat unsolicited live sales and marketing calls from UK companies.
What Happens When a Number Is TPS-Registered?
Once a number is registered, it’s added to the TPS database within 28 days.
Telemarketing companies must check this database regularly – so calls to those numbers should immediately stop.
For adults, that means peace and quiet.
For children, it means protection from a confusing, intrusive, and even frightening situation.
ParentShield’s Arrangement with the TPS
ParentShield established a direct arrangement with the Telephone Preference Service to pre-register every new number it issues.
That means every ParentShield SIM is entered onto the TPS list before it’s given to a child, so the protection is already in place from day one.
No other UK mobile network does this.
Why This Matters
It’s almost unthinkable that mobile networks would hand out new numbers – knowing they’re going to children – without ensuring they’re protected from marketing databases.
But that’s exactly what happens across the industry.
ParentShield believes this is unacceptable.
By pre-registering all numbers, we make sure our users aren’t exposed to this before parents even begin setting up controls.
Extra Protection with Ultra Secure Mode
For families who want total control, ParentShield also offers Ultra Secure Mode — a feature that takes child protection one step further.
With Ultra Secure Mode enabled, only trusted contacts added by parents can call or text the child’s phone.
All other numbers are blocked automatically, creating a closed user group of family and friends – the safest possible mobile experience for younger users.
TPS registration is an important layer of defence – but Ultra-Secure Mode provides the heavy artillery.
Ahead of the Curve
ParentShield isn’t a typical mobile network that happens to offer SIMs for children.
It’s a network built from the ground up for child safety, combining intelligent parental tools with network-level protection.
From call and text monitoring and word alerts, to SchoolBlock and data controls, every feature is designed to keep children safe while helping them learn responsible phone use.
So yes – all mobile networks should pre-register children’s numbers.
But until they do, ParentShield remains the only one that already does.
